Azamati Benjamin and Rasheed Saminu, both former athletes of Legon Creative Athletics Club (LCAC), have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Azamati, in his second Olympic appearance, competed in 100m Round 1 Heat 1 and finished second with a time of 10.08, behind the fastest man in the world this year, Kishane Thompson.
Rasheed Saminu, popularly known as the Village Boy, made his Olympic debut in Round 1 Heat 5. He ran a close race with Olympic Champion Marcel Jacobs, finishing third with a time of 10.06 to secure his spot in the semi-finals.
The semi-finals are scheduled for tomorrow. Azamati will compete in Semi-Final 1, Lane 3, while Rasheed will run in Semi-Final 3, Lane 8.
